With all the crazy things happening in the world these days, it’s easy to forget what’s important; family. Most people didn’t set or meet many goals in 2020 or 2021, and that’s okay! It’s totally been crazy. But now that the holiday season is here, it’s the perfect time to get back into the comforting routine of celebrating and enjoying holidays. For those of us who are on the hunt for things to do during this time, read on.

This blog post will cover a bunch of fun things to do with your family this holiday season from the perspective of New Hope Dental Care, the best dentist in Raleigh, NC. Let’s get started.

Lights Tour

Regardless of where you live, there are usually many neighborhoods in December and January with Christmas lights and decorations everywhere. I know I have so many memories of going on these fun tours with my family as a kid. It’s the one time of the year that you can idle in front of homes without people looking at you weirdly.

Before you go, make sure that your kids leave their devices at home and pack them a thermos of hot chocolate along with some fresh-baked cookies to make the trip extra fun. You are truly making memories at this time.

Make Gingerbread Houses

This is great for all ages. For me personally, I am not the most creative person in the world but I can still have fun with something like this because of its simplicity. It’s hard to go wrong with how you go about doing it. And hey, if you have the time, feel free to skip the pre-fab houses that you buy from the store and go ahead and make your own gingerbread fresh!

Holiday Movie Night

We all have that iconic movie that we watch over and over again with our family. What you may not have realized is that this creates a tradition that your kids will pass on to their kids. It may even involve the same movie – it’s very nostalgic. So go pop some popcorn, cram together on the couch, and relax.

Make Ornaments

I’m skipping the obvious idea about cutting down your Christmas tree and setting it up and jumping straight to making homemade ornaments. You can go to your local craft store or even a dollar store for inexpensive materials. You can create ornaments out of simple things like popsicle sticks, cinnamon sticks, paper straws, macaroni, ribbons, and other simple things. Every year when you hang up your ornaments you will be able to remember the fun that went into their creation.

Play In The Snow

I know you’re an adult now, but that shouldn’t stop you from letting snow bring you joy. Our adult memories of snow involve shoveling and salting, but we shouldn’t forget all the fun that we had as kids with snow. Get out of your comfort zone and build a snowman, have a snowball fight, and make some snow angels! Build your kids a snow fort while you’re at it.

Bake Treats

Okay, you don’t need to be Martha Stewart to have fun with this one. While it’s preferable for you to bake everything from scratch where you have the ability to add your own secret ingredient of love, it’s not really necessary. You could just bake some pre-made cookie dough and add some icing and sprinkles. It’s really fun regardless of which direction you go with it!

Write Letters to Santa

If you have some little ones in the house, writing letters to Santa is totally something you should do with them. They can practice their letter writing skills while you get an insight into what’s in their little hearts as they lovingly jot down what’s important to them. Did you know that there’s a North Pole Post Office Program where you can actually get a letter in reply along with a North Pole postmark?

Final Thoughts

These are just some ideas that we have come up with. There is so much more out there to do with your family! Don’t let the stress of the world take away your motivation to at least enjoy the holiday season. And be sure that after your kids eat all their sweets from their stockings that you take them to the best dentist in Raleigh, NC.
